Push( or Precious)

Before I begin writing about this novel, I have to warn you about the content. This book is pretty.... um well sad. It uses tough language, and the story itself is harsh. I don't recommend you read this book unless you can handle the story.

When you see a family walking down the street, usually you assume the kids are happy, the wife and husband love each other, and nothing is wrong. But what happens behind the door of their house?

Push tells the story of Clarice Precious Jones, a young teenage African American girl who has been raped by her deadbeat father for several years. Due to this, she has conceived one child( with Down Syndrome), and another is on the way.

When Clarice's school discovers her second child is on the way, they kick her out of school and she sends her to join a GED program. The story revolves around Clarice learning how to read and write at the program, how harsh she is treated at home, and what kind of future lies with Clarice and her two children.

There really isn't a lot more to tell about the story. The book is fairly short, and if I go any further, I will end up revealing the ending(which I do not like to do). All I can say, is this story really makes you wonder. I cannot even fathom what it is like for a child to be in a situation like that. If you feel you can handle the content, I seriously suggest you read the book.
